New features in Saved Game Manager 2.1
There are a number of new features in Saved Game Manager 2.1. As with version 2.0, not all of them are immediately visible, but they do all make a difference.
- Manager now uses Windows browse dialog
The Manager now uses the standard Windows Browse for Folder dialog, instead of it's own. This is easier to use, and supports networks properly. Also, Windows XP users get a new enhanced browse dialog.
- Plug-in limit removed
The previous plug-in limit of 10 plug-ins has been removed. There is now no limit on the number of plug-ins you can have installed (with the exception of the amount of memory you have, etc)
- Error handler fixed
There was a small bug in the error handler routine which caused it to ignore which button was clicked. This bug has been fixed.
- New C++ sample plug-in
A small test plug-in written in Visual C++ has been supplied. This is written in VC 7.0, but should compile in earlier versions.
- Other plug-in related updates
The Add/Remove Plug-ins dialog has been improved internally. Also, if there is an error while loading a plug-in at startup, you will receive a friendly error message, instead of something along the lines of "OLE Automation Error", for example. Additionally, there are two new functions in the plug-in API: GetMainWindowHandle and RefreshLists.
- Various help files updates
I have updated several sections of the help file, and added a new Version Information page, as well as pages for the new functions in the plug-in API.
- Manager now remembers last position and size
The Saved Game Manager now remembers the window position and size from the last session, instead of always starting maximised, which may be useful if you are using a very large resolution.
- No errors when you don't have HTML Help
If you choose Help Topics when you don't have HTML Help installed, the Manager will not give you a run-time error, but will display a friendly message box. Also, an online version of the help file should be available soon (as of 22/12/2001).
- Other bug fixes and improvements
There are also other small bug fixes and improvements included in this version of the Manager.
